Lisa Mitchell Exploring the Nature of Pastels Studio Class begins October 2010

Sweeping the Hill, 16 x 20

Lisa Mitchell is now offering pastel classes in her home studio in Northern Baltimore County.

This class is for pastel artists, (beginner to intermediate) wanting to improve their drawing and painting skills in an encouraging, relaxing and fun-filled small group setting with plenty of individual attention.

This is an ongoing pastel class. You'll become an "artistic problem solver" as you take on drawing and painting challenges created to strengthen your knowledge of design techniques. Pastel is a vibrant medium that offers the artist an array of expressive possibilities. You'll experiment with different surfaces, under-painting techniques and subject matter. Now and then, weather permitting you'll venture outdoors into the artist's garden or nearby rural locations to paint en plein air.

A variety of source material will be used as reference including, painting from direct observation, photography and sketches that you prepare in the studio or in the field. Help will be provided with photographing, selecting and editing images.

The class meets each Friday from 10 am til 1 pm.
