Our Meetings are held at the Glenwood Community Center, Cooksville, MD. The center is located off Route 97 (Georgia Ave.) in Howard County, MD.  From Baltimore, it is easily accessed via Route 70 and 97 South.  The center is off Cars Mill Road. Dear MPS Members,

We have two treats in store for you in July!  First, we will have a presentation on framing pastels from Julian A. Manelli, the owner of, Mat About You Gallery and Custom Framing in Ellicott City, MD.   Secondly, we will have our annual critique session, featuring our member critiquers: Linda Light, Deb Maklowski, Chris Powell and Daniel Wise.

For the critique session, you may bring 3 to 5 paintings for our critiquers to view and comment on.

At our Fall meeting on October 24, all MPS members in good standing (meaning you've paid your 2009 dues) will have the opportunity to elect the MPS Executive Board members who will serve for the next two years. These are the five positions to be filled: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, and Corresponding Secretary. The slate, as it currently stands, is as follows:

For President: Deborah Maklowski
For Vice President: Linda Light
For Treasurer: Joyce Lister (currently serving in this position)
For Recording Secretary: Barbara Steinacker (currently serving in this position)
For Corresponding Secretary: Lisa Sheppard (currently serving in this position)

Any Signature Member is of course eligible and welcome to run for any of these positions. If you would like to have your name added to the ballot for any of these board positions please feel free to speak with our Vice President, Deborah Maklowski or any of our Board Members during the General Members' Meeting.

If you are unable to attend the next Member's Meeting in July and you would like to apply, please send your artist's bio/resume and a short statement (one page or less) describing (1) why you're interested in and (2) how you're qualified for the position to:  Deborah Maklowski, 8329 Chestnut Farm Lane, Ellicott City, MD, 21043 or by email to debmak@comcast.net . The deadline for candidacy submissions is Saturday, October 10.

Sincerely,
