FALL MEMBER'S MEETING

Demo by John Held, October 24, 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Demo by John Held October 24 1200 pm - 400 pm

Green Sky

Glenwood Community Center, Glenwood, MD

Start the fall off right by coming to our October meeting.  We'll be electing a new president and vice president, as well as other officers.  And under our new bylaws, everyone gets a vote! So we need you there.

But the main attraction will be a demonstration by John Held, well known painter of gorgeous skies! John says that he has always particularly loved using pastels to create stunning and dramatic skies.  "Painting skies gives me almost unlimited freedom to explore color and light," he states.  "And pastels give me the spontaneity and vibrant colors which no other medium gives me."

In this demo, he will be working with Townsend pastel paper, and will demonstrate how to utilize the unique qualities that pastels have in doing such works.  The use of Townsend paper will be particularly interesting as, I suspect, very few of us have used it.

John is currently represented by the Antreasian Gallery in Baltimore.  His art is also on display through January in Kathleen Sibelius's office (President Obama's Secretary of Health and Human Services ).  After twenty-five years in Seattle, during which he got to observe storms on a daily basis, he now lives in Tuscany Canterbury with his wife, their dog, and three cats.
