Judith Einstman's painting "Delicious" was selected to be included in the Northeast National Pastel Exhibition at the Art Center in Old Forge, NY. Her painting "Five" is in the Southeastern Pastel Society's International Exhibit at the Oglethorpe University Museum in Atlanta, GA.
Michael Gaudreau's painting "Boquet" was accepted into the Northeast National Pastel Exhibition in Old Forge NY, May 12 - June 30. He will also be a featured artist in the fifth annual “Finding God on the Ground” show of landscape paintings in Darlington, MD in mid-April.
Fleur Grabow will be painting in Madrid and Granada, Spain, after Easter. Her Spanish paintings can be seen in her next solo show Luminosity; Capturing the Light at the Aurora Gallery, Annapolis, at the end of July. The reception is August 16th, coinciding with the Annapolis ArtWalk.
Jean Hirons will have an article published in the Pastel Journal in the June issue. She is also the author of Finding Your Style in Pastel, a comprehensive new book on painting with pastel and the choices we have as artists. The book should be available in late June or early July. After seven years, Jean is leaving Montgomery College and will be teaching a class at Plaza Art Supply on Mondays from Oct. 1-Dec. 3. Students have the option of taking a half day class in the morning or afternoon, or the full day for a reduced rate. Alice Kelsey's pastels have been accepted into the Northeast National Pastel Exhibition and the Art Association of Harrisburg 84th Annual International Juried Exhibition.
Susan Klinger's pastel "Fresh Citrus" was accepted into the 2012 Northeast National Pastel Exhibition to be held at the VIEW Arts Center in Old Forge, NY. Show dates are May 12-June 30, 2012.
Deborah Maklowski and Kay Sandler have a two-person show, “In Tandem,” at Slayton House’s Bernice Kish Gallery, May 3 through 26. Please join the artists at a reception on Sunday, May 6, from 3 to 5pm. The gallery is located at 10400 Cross Fox Lane, Columbia, MD. Deborah also has pastels and colored pencil work at the Irvine Nature Center in Owings Mills through May 6, at the Howard County Conservancy through May 18, and at the Strathmore Artists’ 21stAnnual Juried show, “Viewpoint,” through April 21. She’s teaching colored pencil classes at the Columbia Art Center in April and June, and was selected first alternate for the 2012 “Easels in Frederick” plein air competition, taking place in late June.
Maria Marino's pastel "Soliloquy 3" was awarded the Art Spirit Foundation Silver Medal for Pastel at the The National Arts Club's 113th Exhibiting Artist Members' Show held at the National Arts Club in NYC. Maria's painting "Song of the Trees" was juried into the Connecticut Pastel Society 2012 Members Exhibition, March 3-March 24, 2012, at Gallery 53, Meriden, CT. Her painting “Blessing of the Light" was part of a multimedia show held in Columbia MD Artists' Gallery February "Invitational Exhibition", January 30, 2012-February 24, 2012. Maria was also recently accepted as a non-resident Artist Member of the Salmagundi Club in NYC.
Lisa Mitchell will participate in two group shows this spring. “Farm to Table” at the Saint James Gallery, MacDonald Hall, 3100 Monkton Road, Monkton, MD opens on Sunday, May 20 with a Collector’s Preview from 3 – 4pm and then Opens to the Public from 4 – 6pm. Gourmet fare will be served. This is a group show featuring works in oil, pastel, watercolor and sculptural pieces. Lisa will show 6 works in oil and pastel. Lisa will show 5 to 6 works in oil and pastel at the McBride Gallery, 215 Main St. in Annapolis, MD. The opening reception takes place on Sunday, June 10, from 1 to 4 p.m. “Conversation with the Artists” begins at 2 p.m. This is a group show entitled, “Artist’s Favorite Places”. You are invited to come out, meet the participating artists and take part in a special afternoon art talk.
JoEllen Murphy will be participating in the Columbia Pike Artists’ Studios first annual spring open house. It takes place on Saturday, April 28th from 6-9pm. Daniel Peck will have two pastel landscape paintings on display at the Second Annual Art and Earth Celebration Juried Art Exhibition, sponsored by the Berkeley Arts Council. The exhibit will be open April 20–May 20, 2012 at The Arts Centre, 300 West King Street, Martinsburg, WV 25401. Juror Laura Amussen, Director of Exhibitions and Art Collection Coordinator at Goucher College in Baltimore, MD selected 52 works from 36 of the applicants.
