Fleur Grabow spent September painting on Sawyer Island in Maine. She loved the sense of space that comes from being on a remote stretch of coastline, as well as the craggy cliffs, pine forests, lighthouses and little harbours. Fleur visited Monhegan Island, a small island ten miles off the coast, which has inspired a wealth of American art. The first artists arrived in the 1850's, but Monhegan had its Golden Age in the early 20th century when the likes of Robert Henri, Edward Hopper and George Bellows, among others, painted there. Fleur's paintings will be shown at The Aurora Gallery, Annapolis.
