JoEllen Murphy will have an open house at her studio at Columbia Pike Artists’ Studios on Saturday, November 3 from 6-10pm and Sunday, November 4 from 2-5pm. Also, her painting "Upstream" won an honorable mention in the Art League of Alexandria's annual landscape show, "'Scapes" in August.
Susan Due Pearcy just had an exhibit of 12 pastels in the East Gallery of the Hatfield Building at the National Institutes of Health from July 12 - September 8, 2012. Her studio, Sugarloaf Studio, is part of the Fall Countryside Artisans’ Open Studio Tour on October 12-14th from 10-5 pm each day. Susan is located at 21900 Beallsville Road, Barnesville, MD 20838. Bob Russin is pleased to share with the membership that his painting “Boxed Peppers” has been accepted into the annual PSA exhibition. It also was featured in the April 2012 issue of Pastel Journal for winning 4th place in the still-life category of the Pastel 100 competition.
Desiree Holmes Scherini was juried into the Norfolk, Virginia plein air event called Plein Air 757.
Mary Montague Sikes participated in the Labor Day weekend Art Show at Tides Inn, Irvington, VA by creating two pastel paintings on canvas board during the two-day event. Her mixed media painting, “Will There Be Peace Anyway,” was selected for the 2012 National Juried All-Media exhibition at Petersburg Regional Arts Center. The work will be on view there from October 12 until November 3, 2012. The Center, located at 132 N. Sycamore St. in Petersburg, VA, is open Wednesday- Saturday, 10-4pm. The opening reception and awards presentation will be October 12, 7-9pm.
Mary Ellen Simon is showing her work at the Ratner Museum, October 3-29, 2012. The reception is October 7, 1:30-3:30pm.
Libby Stevens was the pastel painter for "4 Women Paint" in April at Live an Artful Life Gallery in The Plains, Virginia. It was so successful that on September 29 she did another demo with the same 3 women artists for " Diff4ent STROKES" at Chasen Galleries in Richmond. The demo was from 2-5 pm, followed by a reception from 6-9 pm. This is especially exciting for her because Chasen doesn't usually accept works under glass for gallery showing. She is hoping to change their minds. She is also showing at Art at the Mill, Millwood, Virginia, October 6-21 , Red Barn Art Exhibit at the Waterford Fair, October 5-7, and she is in the instructor's show at Artsquare, Leesburg, until October 12, 2012.
Mary Anne Warner had a pastel and an oil painting in the Yorkfest Juried Exhibition in York, Pennsylvania in August. She won an Award of Distinction for the work.
Elroy Williams' painting, “E flat to B,” was accepted into The Maryland Federation of Art's "Strokes of Genius" national juried exhibition. A total of 76 artists out of 553 entries were selected by juror Mark Karnes. The show runs from November 2-24, 2012. The reception is on Sunday, November 11, 3-6pm.
Daniel Wise's painting entitled "Picnic" was exhibited in the 40th Annual Pastel Society of America exhibition, Enduring Brilliance! The Pastel Society of America at 40. It was awarded the M.H. Hurlimann-Armstrong, PSA Award.
