VIRGINIA PASTEL SOCIETY
A New Pastel Society in Northern Virginia!
Saturday, July 2, 2011
Pastel artist and former MPS member Bonnie Ferguson Butler is beginning a new pastel society based in Northern Virginia. Still in its infancy, the Pastel Society of Virginia meets primarily for studio and plein air painting at present. Bonnie considers MPS a great example to follow and has big goals for the future, including expanding the membership; establishing a website, blog, and newsletter; hosting regional and national workshops; obtaining non-profit status; and seeking IAPS membership. Meetings are held twice a month (the 3rd Thursday at 7pm and the 4th Tuesday at 10am) at the Springfield Art Guild Community Room at Springfield Mall, where they’re planning their first exhibit from late August through early October. The MPS Board has let Bonnie know that we applaud her initiative and are very happy to welcome this new society! We’re looking forward to finding ways to collaborate and improve/increase pastel opportunities for all our member artists. For more information about this new society or to inquire about attending, contact Bonnie at firstname.lastname@example.org.
