Folly Beach Dune Flowers II: This piece is a meditation on living in the moment, enjoying the journey, while also capturing anticipation for the final destination: an overcast day in late spring on the South Carolina coast. (Included in SOP 2019)
Tempest 17" x 17"
This is a piece in which I started with loose powdered pigments on white pastelmat. I used alcohol and a rubber brayer to spread and fix the pigments, creating a sense of movement in the underpainting before moving to stick pastels to complete the work. Inspiration for this piece lies in my love of the ocean and its complexity, but it is also an analogy for current events (pun intended).
