September Painting Event at Linganore Winery
Plein Air Paint-Out and Pop-Up Exhibition, September 1st and 15th
The Maryland Pastel Society will host a "Pop-Up" Plein Air and sales Event at Linganore Winery, 13601 Glissans Mill Road, Mount Airy, Maryland. All members in good standing are invited to participate.
About the Event
This is a unique opportunity for our members to participate and have fun at the same time! Whether you are a studio painter or prefer plein air, this event offers opportunity for all!
Saturday, September 1st, 10 am - 8 pm, you are invited to paint the vineyards! You may choose any viewpoint including tasting room, wines, landscape, farm equipment etc. Once there, you may drive your vehicle on the grass to find the perfect location and set up next to your car. For those studio painters, feel free to sketch or take reference photos to work from your studio. Guests will be invited to engage with our artists in the field and encouraged to come back on the 15th for the finished work.
If you are not able to make the September 1st group paint out date, you may go to the Winery anytime during hours of operation, and paint or photograph and still participate in the "Pop-Up" Show.
Saturday, September 15th, 2 pm-5 pm, bring your easel, (to display) finished, framed painting, or paintings to Linganore Winery for the Pop-Up Show. MPS will showcase our work to the guests of the winery. Paintings will be available for purchase for the 3-hour window. Artists retain 100% of sales price!! Only paintings relating to the winery may be offered for sale.
There is additional opportunity to display unsold paintings, behind the tasting room bar, for future guests to consider. Should you be interested in having any artwork remain at the vineyard and hung behind the tasting bar, please know that it is up to you to manage the hanging, replacement, removal or sale of any artwork. This additional opportunity will not be managed by MPS.
For anyone who does not own a field easel to display their work for the sales event, the winery does have wall space that can be utilized. On the back of a 3" x 5" index card, please write Artist Name, Title of Work, and Price. These index cards will be adhered to either the easel or the wall. You may wish to print out a couple Bio sheets with your business cards stapled as well.
Sales can be handled through MPS or if you choose, you can accept checks from customers, or should you own your own "Square", you can process your own charges.
Enjoy a glass of wine with fellow artists, and enjoy the afternoon.
About Linganore Winery
In 1972, amidst rolling hills, dairy cows, and corn fields, a small vineyard was planted in the fertile soils of an old dairy farm. That one small vineyard has proudly become Linganore Winecellars.
