Our Next General Member's Meeting - Saturday, October 25, 12PM - 4PM

Howard County Arts Center
Columbia, MD. 21043

Be sure to join us for this fall's meeting.  We will have a special guest, Bob Strohsahl, the founder of Great American Art Works pastels.  In addition to being a very knowledgeable pastel maker, Bob is a highly engaging and enthusiastic supporter of our medium, and he'll be giving a presentation on pastels and pigments. He will also have with him a few of Great Amercian's brand new 60 half-stick sets for sale, along with some other materials.

At our business meeting, we will be approving the amendments to our bylaws, which change our current membership level terminology to "Signature" and "Artist" members, among many other things. (If you have any questions or concerns that you'd like to address ahead of time, please contact Jean Hirons.)

And—our featured presentation will be a "paint-around."  Six brave artists will have a complete set up and will begin a piece. After 10 minutes, each will rotate to the next painting and will move around until they are back to their own paintings.  The audience can stay with one artist or one painting, or move around to see what everyone is doing.  This is always a popular event at the IAPS conventions and we thought it would be fun to try it out on MPS!  Afterward, perhaps we'll have a little time for the artists to describe their experience working on other artists' work.

This should be a fun meeting and, as always, an opportunity to receive critiques on your work and connect with your friends.  Don't forget those wonderful food donations!

See you on the 25th.

Jean Hirons, MPS President
